History of the Dayton Model Boat Club
In the Beginning 1976: The Dayton Model Boat Club was started in 1976 by Bob Morris and Jim Davies Sr. The club had many members from Dayton and surrounding area. The first club starting clock was designed by member Ralph Tallet . The first club race was scheduled , but due to the lack of entries being sent in, and the race was then cancelled.
In 1979: The club was disbanded, the clock was sold to the Columbus Ohio boat club and money that was leftover was split between all members at that time.
In 1991: The club was reorganized to form what is now called: Dayton R/C Boat Club.
In 1992: The club’s first race at that time was held at Wagerson Garden Center, and races since then have been moved to Victory Express at the intersection of I-70 & I-675 north of Fairborne Ohio.
